"PROPERTIES SOLD," a popular feature of our
weekly newsletter, will return next week, thanks to the efforts of our
technical consultant, Cape Graphics! We're excited to be able to bring this
information to you once again, in addition to new property listings and our

LARGER FLOUNDER? New Jersey anglers may
be faced with an 18-inch minimum for flounder catches this year, up from
17.5 inches previously, if allowable-catch quotas are revised. The bag
limit, currently five fish per angler per day, and the flounder season,
currently May 5 through September 28, could also be revised. However, the
Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission may consider allowing New Jersey
anglers to catch extra fish, based on unused quotas from other states.
AVALON POLICE are asking property owners to

an emergency. You may use the department's confidential email address,
police@avalonboro.org, to provide
your name, Avalon property address, and contact phone number. Your
information is confidential and will not be shared with any other
department.

HOTEL REVENUE in Cape May County grew by 10
percent in 2012, as reported by the Atlantic City Press, making it the best
year since 2007. Early indications are that 2013 will be just as strong as
2012, if not better. We've already seen strong 2013 rental numbers as those
who normally visit areas to our north, where storm damage occurred, have
begun seeking vacation rentals further south.
CAPE MAY-BASED Coast Guard Cutter Vigorous was
one of the vessels that assisted the disabled Carnival Triumph in the Gulf
of Mexico. The 210-foot Vigorous evacuated one Triumph passenger by
helicopter to another Carnival ship, then escorted the Triumph toward
Alabama once tow vessels arrived. During her 40-year career the Vigorous has
sailed from New England to the Caribbean, patrolling the coast while
enforcing immigration laws, intercepting drug traffickers, and homeland
security missions.

which is required for all boat operators in the state. Numerous 8-hour
classes will be held beginning in April, including one at Avalon Yacht Club
on June 8th, as well as several at local marinas on different dates.

REMEMBER WHEN? Stone Harbor's upcoming 100th anniversary
prompted a look back. Shown to the right is the cover from the
borough's 50th Anniversary Chamber of Commerce guide. What's inside?
Along with a map and brief history of the borough are some
gone-but-not-forgotten names, such as the then-new Shelter Haven
Motel (soon to be the new Reeds at Shelter Haven), Edward's Pier
(now Smuggler's Cove), Henny's Bar and Restaurant, Deschamp's Boat
Yard, Stone Harbor Pharmacy, Stone Harbor Lumber Company, and more.
A number of favorites are still with us, such as Sturdy Savings and
Loan, Seashore Ace (known then as Seashore Home Supply), Fred's
Liquor Store, and Springer's Home Made Ice Cream.
Stone Harbor's 100th Anniversary will be celebrated next year. Shown

season. See below for a picture of the new beach. We're saving you a spot on
the sand! The dredge that pumped sand onto Avalon's beach has been moved to
New York for a project there; it will return in April to begin a beach
project in Stone Harbor.
